High point: Saturday night is party night and the crew had a BBQ for us on the deck, in the rain, with Christmas songs playing.\u00a0 Wonderfully random.<\/p>\n

No point: Wondering what\u2019s for dinner, it\u2019s rice and probably something with cabbage.<\/p>\n

Low point: Eating stir fried kidney thinking it was going to be a mushroom.<\/p>\n

Most random meal on board: Mushroom brulee\/souffl\u00e9 that tasted of fish. I\u2019m not saying the two are related but, the day that was on the menu, was the only day I was sick.<\/p>\n

Lessons learned: Avoid mushrooms, they are evil.<\/p>\n

Life on board: Hours turn into days, days turn into weeks and before you know it you can\u2019t remember a time before the good ship Hoegh Beijing.\u00a0 How did we get here?\u00a0 Is there really a big red fire engine on deck 5?\u00a0 Do we really have to get off in Mexico?\u00a0 This is our home now, we\u2019re not ready to be let back into the wild, please let us stay.\u00a0 Our days are structured around meal times, reading time, ping-pong time, DVD time, toast time and not much else, apart from basketball for Steve.\u00a0 We move only between our cabin, the mess room and the games room.\u00a0 Why would you need to go anywhere else?\u00a0 With comms down, films are the only way we can remind ourselves there is actually a big wide world beyond the sea.\u00a0 Or is there?\u00a0 They are only films after all.\u00a0 Is that real or is this real?\u00a0 Am I in a backwards episode of the Truman Show?\u00a0 Is there such a thing as Hoegh Beijing syndrome?\u00a0 I think I\u2019ve got it.\u00a0 Someone please help.<\/p>\n

Lonely hearts club: The Pacific is a lonely place.\u00a0 In 17 days we haven\u2019t actually seen any other ships or land, not that we were expecting to see land, but it would be nice to see something, anything really.<\/p>\n

No news is good news: Apart from the odd text message on the sat phone, we have no idea what\u2019s going on in the real world.\u00a0 On top of the void of friends facebook updates and celebrity tweets, imagine 17 days without knowing the latest on Kate and Wills wedding.\u00a0 I know, it\u2019s been tough.\u00a0 To be honest our non-media bubble has been quite nice but now we\u2019re craving information.\u00a0 Someone get me a copy of the London Lite\u2026<\/p>\n

Taking the rough with the smooth: The first week was pretty calm considering, but since we crossed the equator things have been a bit more rocky on board.\u00a0 Luckily we already had our sea legs and our cabin in at the stern, <\/strong>which means we don\u2019t feel the waves as much as the lucky people at the bow.\u00a0 Check me out with the lingo.<\/p>\n

I like to say thank you to the crew, they have been lovely, but I\u2019m really ready to get off now please.<\/p>\n

If I don\u2019t see you before, see you in Mexico amigos, I\u2019ll be the crazy lady celebrating being on dry land again.<\/p>\n
