Howdy all FTFE supporters!<\/p>\n
It\u2019s Clare here all the way from sunny Liverpool.\u00a0 I am a fundraiser at The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation which, as I am sure you know, is one of the charities supported by FTFE.\u00a0\u00a0 We\u2019re so proud of all the crew who have been part of the challenge and from everyone here I\u2019d like to say a big \u2018THANK YOU\u2019 for what you\u2019re doing to help defeat lung cancer.<\/p>\n
You\u2019re all stars in our eyes and we can\u2019t wait to welcome you home next month.<\/p>\n
<\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n <\/p>\n<\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<\/p>\nIt\u2019s hard to believe it\u2019s almost a year since the crew landed in Liverpool on their 360 Tour of the UK.\u00a0 We gave them a real Roy Castle welcome here at our offices in Wavertree, with the whole building coming out to show their support and cheer them in \u2013 our local hot drink van also handed out free teas and coffees which was a nice surprise!\u00a0 It was a really special day with the group meeting our Founder and President Professor Raymund Donnelly; lung cancer patient Terry Kavanagh and dedicated supporter and local Fire Fighter Peter McAdam \u2013 who arranged a speed boat treat for them on the River Mersey.<\/p>\nWe\u2019re always in awe of our fundraisers and the amazing lengths they go to, to help raise money for the charity and FTFE certainly haven\u2019t disappointed us with their adventures.\u00a0 From braving difficult terrains to recording \u2018Roy Castle Rocks\u2019 we have enjoyed following every step of their journey \u2013 as I am sure you have too.<\/p>\nAll the money raised by FTFE goes towards our work in defeating lung cancer.\u00a0\u00a0 We are aiming to beat the disease on all levels, through research into an early detection; working with patients and those affected by lung cancer and also by helping people to stop smoking.\u00a0 Our work with children and young people aims to educate them on the dangers of smoking and about making healthy lifestyle choices.\u00a0 We also campaign on the issues surrounding the disease and for better funding for lung cancer research.<\/p>\nLung cancer has recently had a massive breakthrough.\u00a0 The Government has this year announced plans for a research study into a lung cancer screening programme across the UK.\u00a0 The pilot UK Lung Screening trial is partly based on the \u00a315million research programme, which the charity funds at the University of Liverpool.\u00a0 As you all can imagine this is something we\u2019re very proud of.<\/p>\nWell that\u2019s about it from me, but before I sign off I\u2019d just like to once again thank the guys for their hard work and also encourage everyone who reads this to support them in one way or another \u2013 they\u2019re doing amazing work across the world and deserve all our support.<\/p>\nWell done guys and we\u2019ll see you soon.<\/p>\nLove from Clare and all your friends at The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation xx xx<\/p>\n..<\/p>\nHere are some pictures of when we met Clare and the team last year.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n[flickr album=72157624021329431 num=30 size=Square]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Howdy all FTFE supporters!
