Day 62: Don’t Go Chasing Waterfalls

17 September 2010

Today’s blog comes from the main man himself, Sun Ji. He is our guide in China and has done a magnificent job thus far of hand holding us through this wonderful yet crazy country. Things we have learnt about Sun Ji so far

– he dominates the team at “International Press Up Club”

– confuses his left from this right

– doesn’t like sweating

– he has had to learn sarcasm pretty damn quick!

– Absolutely loves green tea and is always clutching one, our need for a coffee fix leaves him perplexed

– Slow learner…..in two days he is taking us to his parents house for dinner

Sun Ji is doing his best to teach us Chinese. Our ability to learn foreign languages though curbs this at just one word a day.

From Sun ji ………

Today, we visited the Hukou waterfall. it is so impressive for us as this waterfall is part of the Yellow river, which is known as the mother-river of China.

The way to Hukou waterfall pass Lvliang mountain, driving red fireengine through road circulating green mountains is an amazing experience. all people are so kind, they keeping saying hello to us, it is curious for them to see a group of foreigners driving a fireengine in China.

After a turn, we saw the yellow river flow peacfully, it looks so generous and definetly can nurture one of the most ancient civilization in world. In chinese, Hukou means the mouth of pot, when standing in front of the waterfall, we understand why it is named as this. the river with several hundred meters wide on upstream suddenly fall down into a rift valley with only 30-40 meters wide here, which create this nature miracle of yellow river, and now it is considered as the symbol of chinese spirit: virility, vigorous and inspiration.

That’s also the spirit of our team and this trip.
