FTFE Crew: Thirsty for the expedition: nuun Active Hydration

22 June 2010

I am delighted to announce that Follow That Fire Engine has another fantastic new partner and supporter.

nuun Active Hydration have donated 16 tubes of nuun and 24 water bottles. nuun is a calorie free, portable electrolyte solution to use in remote places that is lightweight easily-dissolvable, and provides an optimal salt balance to maximize hydration.

It is simple to use, by just dropping a tablet into 500ml of water it turns water into a source of optimal, balanced hydration as well as a refreshing drink.

nuun will be used on a day to day basis as well as being an integral part of the emergency ration pack, should the crew become stranded. The donation from nuun will allow the crew to make 96 litres.

Crew member Amy Harpin commented, “the UK360, in addition to being an incredible experience, was particularly demanding and bought home the need that we will need to look after our health on the expedition. nuun will be central too this, particularly when we are traveling through hot and humid counties, pick up an illness, or simply when we are feeling run down and it is used as a preventative measure.

nuun support programme manager Darren Roberts stated that, “nuun is always happy to help out on things like this, its not just about supporting elite athletes in endurance events.  Hydration is key to health and performance, whether you’re doing an ironman, a cycling sportive, just drinking in the day or following a fire engine around the world – we all need to make our water count!

nuun comes very highly recommended from the Sweat team Ironman and they wouldn’t train or race without it.
